We are
currently studying the book "Fresh Encounter" by Henry &
Richard Blackaby and Claude King. I want to share a couple of quotes
from this study as well as we look to the time we have set aside for
revival.
Definition
of revival:
"Revival
is a divinely initiated work in which God's people pray, repent of
their sin, and return to a holy, Spirit-filled, obedient love relationship
with God."
Quote from
preface of "Fresh Encounter":
"Numerous
accounts of revival testify to the profound sense of God's presence
during worship services. This keen awareness of God's nearness was
noticeably missing in services preceding the revival. The dynamic
preaching...contrasts the anemic and ineffective exhortation of earlier
days. The electric singing...eclipses the lifeless music that was
the norm. The testimonies of radically changed lives exposes the absence
of personal transformation before revival. The fervent and extended
prayer times...replace previously forsaken prayer meetings. Most notably
is the profound conviction of sin during revival compared to the heretofore
complacent and indulgent attitude toward sin before revival."
May we
be faithful to pray for revival and to return to a obedient, loving
relationship with our heavenly Father.
Yours in Christ,
